HIV Testing

OSRA Medical can help you with all your HIV testing in San Francisco needs. There are three HIV tests. Each one uses fluid samples such as blood or saliva.

Viral Load Test

Also known as the nucleic acid test, the viral load test measures the viral particles in the body. HIV infections contracted 10-30 days before screening are identified through it.

The levels of viral load indicate the severity of the infections. It is the most rapid method available. Bieber is slightly more expensive than conventional treatments.

Antibody-Antigen Test

The antigen-antibody test recognizes both antigens and antibodies. The occurrence of either one dictates the infection. Antigens form earlier than antibodies. As soon as the virus gains entry into the host body it produces antigens.

In response to these antigens, the body generates an immune response in the form of antibodies. When this test is conducted immediately after infection, it shows results based on viral antigens.

Antibody Test

The antibody test, one of the fastest screening methods, uses both blood and oral samples. Results may take different periods in both samples.

For blood samples, the results are completed in under 30 minutes. However, for oral samples, they take 20 minutes.

Hepatitis B Testing

Hepatitis B testing involves three types of tests. These include:

HBsAg

Also known as hepatitis B surface antigen tests, this test shows positive results in the case of hepatitis B. The presence of the hepatitis B surface antigen is ascertained in the test. Afterwards, further tests are required to determine the nature of the infection.

HBcAb

Also known as hepatitis B core antibodies, the test determines chronic and acute Hepatitis B infections.

HBsAb

Also known as the surface antibody test, it indicates the presence of antibodies for hepatitis B surface antigen. If the antibodies are present then it indicates that the patients were either vaccinated or have countered the infection.

Hepatitis C Testing

Also known as the ELISA test, it depends upon anti-HCV antibodies. The existence of antibodies in blood demonstrates the infection. Hepatitis C antibodies formulate after 12 weeks. The test results may take 2-3 days.
